Currently, the editor has individual code edit entities with their own scripts to handle code editing. However, this poses numerous issues for normalizing code editing behavior across a project.
Godot's built in CodeEdit class is also somewhat questionable in my experience.
Anyway, my idea is to place an invisible CodeEdit in-between the user and the CodeEdit they click on/focus on. Then introduce a script to manage that CodeEdit. This script would control logic that individual CodeEdit nodes were previously responsible for, and allow for passing events to other logic nodes. Currently this would be very useful for catching typing events to suggest code completions and better balance the focus logic between node focus and code edit focus more efficiently.
